East Yarde via Shebbear, Sheepwash, Petrockstowe and Tarka Trail circular

Distance: 21.6 miles, 6.1 miles off-road,

Grade: A moderate ride enjoying the quieter section of the Tarka Trail cycleway and visiting some lovely villages.

Details

This ride takes in the more remote section of the Tarka Trail
cycleway, passing through tranquil countryside and neglected old
stations. Leaving East Yarde, the ride follows the Tarka Trail along
the old railway track, soon arriving at Watergate Bridge. Here the
ride leaves the trail to follow undulating country lanes out to pretty
Shebbear and then returning to the River Torridge valley. The ride
then goes to beautiful Sheepwash and on through Petrockstowe to
meet up with the Tarka Trail again. The ride finishes with an easy
cycle along the old railway back to East Yarde.
